Motherhood – You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup

autism mum

Motherhood is a journey. We must navigate through the peaks and the valleys. We must realise that self-care is not selfish – it’s a non-negotiable. And we must realise that we cannot pour from an empty cup. So in order to look after your loved ones, you must first look after you. You must place that oxygen mask over your face, before you go assisting others.

I wanted to share with you my top 6 ways to kick-start your self care routine. These tools will enable you to breathe a little easier. They will help to reduce the daily stress and bring back some of the feel good hormones.

1. Nutrition: Eat fresh whole real foods & drink plenty of filtered water.

2. Sleep: Find ways to improve the quality & quantity of your sleep so that it is restorative and you have a bounce-outta-bed energy in the morning!

3. Mind: Nourish the mind by practicing deep breathing in stressful situations, let go of anger and be present in the moment.

4. Move: Just do it!

5. Practice Gratitude: Name one thing everyday that you are grateful for in your life.

6. Love: Surround yourself with people who inspire you, challenge you and believe in you.
Remember, you are a priority. If you burn out you are no good to any one. Fill up your cup, and I promise you, life will start to overflow with abundance, ease and happiness.
With love and hope,
