Today we are delving right into nutrition for kids and getting some really practical advice. Beck Warke,  a functional nutrition consultant walks us through the types of foods we should be packing into the lunchbox. We dive into the foods that sustain our kiddies energy and attention, how to navigate food labels, best shopping tips, how make the best choices if your on a plant based diet and SO MUCH MORE!  

Beck is the founder of the Omaha Kids In School Nutrition Program and is dedicated to educating children on how real, whole food can enable a healthy and vibrant life. Beck wants to change the health of our kids by improving one lunch box at a time…

 

RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS

1.What is one habit parents can implement today?
The ingredients list on the labels. Turn that packet over and look at your ingredients list!

2. What do people never ask you that you wish they did?
I think a lot of people make the assumption that I’ve gotten to this point very easily. So I would enjoy sharing a bit more of my story and people asking me how I got to be where I am in terms of my own health.

3. What book would you recommend all parents read?
Well Adjusted Babies by Jennifer Barham-Floreani.

4. What is your top unfinished bucket list item?
I have still have the dream of following the summer around the world for twelve months. That’s what I would love to do one day.

5. If you could only offer one piece of advice to parents, what would it be?
Listen to your kids, they communicate in different ways whether it be behaviour that we think is out of character or through tears or through talking. Just learn to listen.
