Healing The Gut: Beyond Dietary Intervention with Kirsty Wirth

Subscribe on

We know diet impacts gut health, but what else influences the state of the gut? ….It’s so much more than we think! Today we chat with Kirsty Wirth – Gut Health Guru, Founder of Kultured Wellness and mother to a child on the autism spectrum. She talks us through all the things that can help or hinder gut health….and we look beyond the diet to explore the impacts of nature, movement and SO MUCH MORE!  She empowers us with so many practical tips including letting us know the type of non-toxic sunscreen she uses on her kids!

5 Rapid Fire Questions

1. What is one habit that our listeners can implement today?

Get out into nature and sunshine.

2. What do people never ask you that you wish they did?

I wish they asked me more about themselves
‘how could I work on myself to be able to be the best mum/dad to support my children?’ ‘How do I do me first?’ Asking how to do that and knowing your children have imbalances in their bodies which generally means that the mums and the dads do too. So, how do I actually do that for me and do that well so I can be the best support for my child. I really wish mums would ask that more rather than ‘I’ve got to fix my child’.

3. What book would you recommend all parents read?

Either of Dr. Perlmutters books would be amazing. His first one is Grain Brain and the second is Brain Maker which has a chapter about kids with developmental needs and kids on the spectrum and how that interlinked brain connection beautifully.

4. What is your top unfinished bucket list items?

Writing my book, I’m onto it and I will get there in the end. I want to finish writing to share more. Timeline is probably in the next six months. I’m going to call it ‘’Gut Ville’’.

5. If you could only offer one piece of advice to parents, what would it be?

Stop, sit and look and listen to your child. Instead of thinking you know what’s right for them or thinking that the professionals around you know what’s right for them, really sit down and look and listen and be there for them. So step aside from being the warrior mum for a minute and just engage, sit and be mum. It’s very powerful.
